The Delaware River Port Authority Police Department was established by a compact between the State of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our jurisdiction encompasses the Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross, Commodore Barry, Walt Whitman Bridges, and the PATCO transit rail line.

Being selected as the agency’s new Police Chief, I am honored and humbled with the privilege to lead the fine men and women of the DRPA Police Department. As we continue to address the challenges facing today’s policing environment, I look forward to working with some of the region’s most talented law enforcement professionals. As a whole, we will focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the department by enhancing its capabilities through innovation and technology and by developing and maintaining internal and external partnerships throughout our jurisdiction.

Every member of our police department is dedicated to the mission and vision statements established by the organization. Additionally, each member understands the duties and responsibilities associated with the positions they hold. The accountability and transparency of their actions coincide with the organizations’ core and shared values. We operate in compliance with the highest degree of ethical and professional standards.

In collaboration with John Hanson, the CEO of the Delaware River Port Authority, and his executive leadership team, public safety continues to be a top priority within the authority. We rely on their support and the DRPA Board of Commissioners for valuable guidance and assistance.

As a police department, we are committed to "Stewardship. Service. Community." We are committed to a customer service-oriented policing approach while delivering public safety services. We strive to provide a safe workplace environment for our employees and safe passage for patrons traveling within our facilities.

As Chief, I am committed to establishing a diverse law enforcement agency-one representative of the regions we serve on both sides of the Delaware River, which continually strives to improve our customer service, public safety, and homeland security responsibilities.

In closing, I would like to thank you for visiting the Delaware River Port Authority Police Department’s website.

Sincerely,
Chief Edward W. Cobbs, Jr.
