DRPA Proud to Participate in Mentoring Program, Advancing Future Leaders

The DRPA is proud to support the professional growth of future leaders by participating in the WTS Philadelphia Mentoring Program.

The program provides the opportunity for both entry and mid-year professionals to connect with mentors in their field of work. The mentors are able to provide the mentees with both support and advice.

DRPA Chief Operating Officer Robert Hicks was recently connected with Hayley McKeever for a 6-month mentoring program. McKeever is a Civil Engineer with AECOM.

“The mentoring program is a powerful tool not only for the mentees, but also the mentors,” said Hicks. “It gives us a chance to give back, listen, and help shape the future of our profession. At the DRPA, we take pride in supporting the next generation of engineers and public servants. It is an opportunity to share real world insights from complex operations and infrastructure projects and help young professions, like Hayley, grow into leaders in civil engineering.”

One of the goals of the program is to help mentors and mentees feel empowered and share that empowerment with one another. The program focuses on skills such as Career Development, Leadership, Strategy and more.

“The WTS mentorship program is providing me with the opportunity to make more connections and learn from a working professional within the industry,” said McKeever. “Working with a professional, like Robert, who has a wealth of experience and knowledge has allowed me to gain valuable career advice and insight. I am excited to continue learning and growing through the mentorship program.”

Mentorship sessions are made easy and flexible with tools like Microsoft Teams or Zoom, allowing mentors and mentees to connect regardless of location. These virtual platforms help create space for open dialogue, support, and meaningful advice.

The program allows mentors to share their lessons learned, and assist mentees in navigating challenges, goal setting, as well as career advancement.

Over the last four years, the program has matched over 1,000 mentors and mentees.
