National Work Zone Awareness Week: April 15–19, 2025

Respect the Zone So We All Get Home

The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) is proud to join transportation agencies across the country in observing National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW), taking place April 21-25, 2025.

This year’s theme, “Respect the Zone So We All Get Home,” serves as a powerful reminder: everyone — workers, drivers, and passengers — has a role to play in keeping work zones safe.

At the DRPA, our crews work tirelessly to maintain and improve the four bridges and our PATCO transit line that connect communities across the Delaware River. Often, this work happens just feet from moving traffic. Respecting speed limits, staying alert, and following posted signs aren’t just good habits — they’re actions that help protect the lives of those working to keep our region moving.

We ask motorists and transit riders to do their part. Please be cautious and patient in work zones. These workers are more than just employees — they’re parents, siblings, friends, and neighbors.

When driving through a work zone, please remember to:

  • Obey all posted speed limits
  • Stay focused and avoid distractions
  • Watch for changing traffic patterns, workers, and equipment
  • Leave extra space between your vehicle and others, especially around construction vehicles

Let’s work together to keep work zones safe — so everyone gets home at the end of the day.
