Tabletop Exercise Strengthens Emergency Preparedness Through Collaboration
On April 2, the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) conducted a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) hosted at Rowan University.
The scenario focused on a simulated hydrocarbon fire at the Commodore Barry Bridge and marked the first step in a three-part emergency preparedness process that will culminate in a full-scale exercise later this year.
This initial TTX brought together both internal DRPA teams and a wide range of external emergency response partners -- including representatives from Logan Township, Gloucester County, Chester City, Chester Township, Delaware County, the New Jersey State Police, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
The exercise provided a valuable forum to review facility-specific protocols and to align expectations for coordinated emergency responses across jurisdictions.
The event was well received, with participants offering positive feedback and constructive input on how we can further improve communication, streamline information sharing, and strengthen our collective response capabilities. Exercises like this ensure that in the event of an actual emergency, our teams and partners are better prepared to respond quickly and effectively, helping to protect public safety and minimize disruption for motorists and the communities we serve.
