Important Notice: E-ZPass Text Message Scam Alert
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) is alerting all E-ZPass customers to a resurfacing text messaging scam targeting tolling agency users across the United States. This scam is not new, but it has reemerged, aiming to deceive customers into providing personal and financial information.
Fraudulent text messages claiming to be from “E-ZPass Debt Collection Services” are directing recipients to click a link to pay an outstanding toll balance to avoid a late fee. Please be advised that these messages are not legitimate. E-ZPass does not address billing issues with customers via text message. The toll account information provided in these texts is invalid and inaccurate. If you have any concerns or questions, contact your respective E-ZPass provider directly or log in to your account for accurate information.
“Scam attacks through emails and text messaging are on the rise in our country and protecting the safety of E-ZPass customer information is of paramount importance to us”, stated PJ Wilkins, EZPass Group Executive Director. “We will continue to work with our partnering states to alert our customers of any criminal activity that places them at risk, and we encourage E-ZPass customers to be vigilant in ensuring that their personal and financial information is not compromised by falling prey to these fraudulent schemes.”
What You Should Do:
- Do not click on any links included in the text message.
- Delete the message immediately.
- If you have already clicked the link and provided any personal or financial information, we strongly urge you to:
- Contact your financial institution immediately.
- Notify E-ZPass about any unauthorized transactions or changes to your account.
Protecting your personal information is of the utmost importance. For further assistance or questions, please visit an official E-ZPass website or contact their customer service directly.
