DRPA Office of Business Development and Equal Opportunity Year-End Report
Highlights Commitment to Non-Discrimination Programs
In a year of unexpected experiences and “firsts” of all kinds, the commitment to the non-discrimination programs continues to be a priority at the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) and Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO).
The Year-End Summary Report produced by the Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity (OBD&EO) highlights the work done across the Authority to support the OBD&EO mission of “providing equal employment and contracting opportunities for all” by tracking the dollars paid to M/W/D/SBE and VOB businesses in the region.
“Since joining the DRPA/PATCO board, I have made clear my commitment to advancing policies and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in DRPA and PATCO’s contracting and hiring processes and practices,” said Cherelle L. Parker, DRPA Chairwoman.
Since 1994, the year DRPA implemented its non-discrimination programs, the DRPA has paid more than $376 million to certified M/W/DBEs and VOBs. In 2020, despite the global pandemic, the DRPA paid nearly $17 million to certified M/W/DBEs.
In September 2020, the DRPA was honored by the WBEC-East with its Corporate Regional Done Deals Award. The award is presented to the corporate Council member who reports the highest number of ‘done deals’ with the highest spend to WBEC-East certified women-owned businesses in the prior year.
“We will continue to look for new and creative ways to expand the pool of qualified vendors, contractors, and consultants who may be interested in doing business with DRPA and PATCO. We will also work to eliminate barriers that may prevent full and fair access to economic opportunities,” said Parker.
