BEN FRANKLIN BRIDGE SUSPENSION SPAN & ANCHORAGE REHABILITATION BEGINS WITH NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN

Drivers who regularly use the Benjamin Franklin Bridge should be aware of a daily westbound lane closure as part of a long-term rehabilitation project of the bridge’s suspension spans and anchorages.

As part of the project, one westbound (into Philadelphia) lane will be closed beginning at 9:30 a.m., after the morning rush hour, and will remain closed until approximately 7 p.m. At the minimum, two westbound lanes will remain open during the work period. Motorists are advised to obey all speed limits for the safety of all those involved.

The lane closure is necessary for contractors to build platforms under the North main cable, as well as utilizing it for access under the bridge for developing steel repair shop drawings.

Eastbound (into New Jersey) lane restrictions are not expected at this time.

This project entails dehumidification of the main suspension cables, rehabilitation of the North and South walkways, maintenance painting, miscellaneous steel repairs, replacement of decorative lighting and widening of the North walkway in Camden.

The work schedule is typically Monday-Friday, but can include weekends, depending upon the weather.

The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2024.
