Following Their Fathers Across the Ben Franklin Bridge, 100 Years Later

A special moment on the Ben Franklin Bridge during its 100th anniversary celebration on July 11, 2026.

Vincent Cloud and a close friend walked side by side across the bridge in honor of their fathers who made that very same walk during the bridge’s opening ceremony in 1926. Mr. Cloud shared a photo of the pair honoring their fathers; Vincent Cloud and Rod Vahle.

They were among many who came out to take photos, retrace those historic steps and honor the journeys their relatives made a century ago.

In those moments, the bridge became more than steel and structure, it became a living link between past and present, memory and meaning.
