High Angle Rescue Team Showcases Life-Saving Skills to Local Students

The High Angle Rescue Team (HART) for the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) was honored to participate in Elk Township’s Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

The event was held on May 1 at the Aura Elementary School in Elk Township, New Jersey. The day provided officers an opportunity to educate, interact and build positive relationships with students.

HART members provided students with a first-hand visual of their expert skills in rope rescue, vertical access and medical response. 

The HART was first established in 1994. Comprised of only DRPA police officers, the team trains exclusively in high-angle rope rescue and recovery techniques. The team responds to emergencies above or below the bridge roadway, from bridge worker rescue to persons threatening to harm themselves.

The DRPA's investment in training their high angle rescue team demonstrates their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of emergency response. By equipping their team members with the necessary skills and knowledge, the DRPA is taking proactive measures to enhance public safety and protect the communities they serve.
