Public Open House
The DRPA is committed to working with stakeholders within the community to help identify short-term and long-term projects to mitigate congestion within the project area. Public Open House meetings were conducted at key points throughout the project development process. These meetings were advertised in the newspaper and on the DRPA website. Project Information Displayed at Public Open House Meeting # 1
Public Open House # 1 (pdf)
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) conducted two identical public open house meetings on May 28, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA and May 29, 2008 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The purpose of the Open House meetings was to introduce the Ben Franklin Bridge West Side Traffic Mitigation Study to the public, including DRPA’s alternatives currently being studied that would reduce traffic congestion.
Visitors to the Open House Meetings reviewed project information, discussed their commuting experiences with Study Team members and provided value input that will be considered as the study moves forward. Open House attendees were asked for their opinions on the alternatives. Based upon comment form responses, Traffic Signal System Improvements and Real-Time Traveler Information Systems ranked highest among the alternatives.

Commuter Survey
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) conducted a Commuter Survey to learn about regional commuters’ travel origin and destination, commute times and routes, and perceptions of congestion.
A total of 333 commuters completed the survey between March 12, 2008 and April 30, 2008.
This survey represents one data source that the project team is using as part of the Ben Franklin Bridge West Side Traffic Mitigation Study. The analysis and recommendations provided within this report should be used in concert with all data collected as part of this study. This report should not be used in isolation to make high-level policy decisions or make large-scale budget allocations.
The survey focused on: Origin & Destination; Real-Time Travel information; and Travel Delays. Click on the links below to see survey results.
