Public Hearings for the Glassboro-Camden Line Draft Environmental Impact Statement

The Glassboro-Camden Line (GCL) Project Team will hold two virtual Public Hearings on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). A 45-day public comment period on the Draft EIS will start on November 2, 2020 and end on December 17, 2020. All comments must be received by no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, Thursday, December 17, 2020.

As part of the EIS public participation process, the Project Team will hold two virtual public hearings through Zoom, where interested members of the public can provide and listen to oral comments concerning the Proposed Action and information contained in the Draft EIS. The public hearings will occur on:

  • Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Due to the ongoing public health emergency associated with COVID–19 and to protect the health and safety of the community, all hearings will be virtual. Registration and instructions for the public hearings is available on the project website at http://glassborocamdenline.com. All members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate. However, to ensure individuals have enough time to speak during the 2-hour hearing, a maximum of 50 people (per hearing) will be guaranteed time to provide comments. Registering to attend the hearing alone does not guarantee a speaking spot. Individuals must answer the question on the registration form if they plan on providing oral comment. Priority to speak will be given in the orderdate registration is received. Individuals will be notified when the 50-person limit for each hearing is reached on the project website, in addition to the registration sign-up form. Additional speakers will be taken during each hearing if time permits. Speakers who register to give oral comments will be given a maximum time of 3 minutes to speak.

Oral comments will also be accepted by calling the project information line at (855) 343-0130. If you would like to leave a formal comment in response to the Draft EIS, you must indicate that your message is for formal comment on the Draft EIS, along with the spelling of your first and last name. Voicemails must be limited to a maximum of 3-minutes.

Written comments will also be accepted, as specified below.

Public comments on the Draft EIS may be orally presented at the public hearings, sent by email to publicinvolvement@glassborocamdenline.com, or submitted through a comment submission form on the project website at http://www.glassborocamdenline.com. Written comments on the Draft EIS may also be submitted via U.S. Mail to:

If you choose to include your name, address and telephone number, email, or other personal identifying information in your comment, be advised that your entire comment—including your personal identifying information—may be made publicly available at any time. While you can request in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information, the Project Team cannot make any guarantee that they will be able to do so.

The purpose of this project is to improve transit service along the Glassboro to Camden corridor with a focus on increasing mobility and improving links between the established communities, jobs, and activity centers. The Light Rail from Glassboro to Camden was identified through analysis and extensive outreach as the preferred option for transit expansion in Southern New Jersey. The project sponsor, the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA), initiated preparation of the Glassboro-Camden Line EIS.
Hard copies of the Draft EIS have been provided to county and local libraries and municipalities. For a full list of where copies of the Draft EIS are located, visit the project website. If special assistance is needed to attend the virtual hearing, such as language translation or sign language (ASL) interpretation, please send an email to contactus@glassborocamdenline.com explaining the need at least seven days in advance of the public hearing.

For more information about the project and other opportunities to provide comments on the Draft EIS, please visit the project website at http://www.glassborocamdenline.com or contact the project information line at (855) 343-0130.
