Art Contest Marks 85th Anniversary Of Ben Franklin Bridge

`If you are a young artist and entering grades 1 through 8 in September, your artwork could be included in a special 85th anniversary poster of the Ben Franklin Bridge.  25 selected images will be included in the anniversary poster with the theme “Connecting Neighbors – 85 years of History.”

The contest begins on Friday, July 1 (the date the Ben Franklin Bridge opened back in 1926) and ends on Friday, July 15.  Contest rules and other information can be found in the Kid Zone section of the DRPA website, www.drpa.org

DRPA CEO, John J. Matheussen, says “this art contest will help celebrate the 85th anniversary of the opening of one of the most iconic landmarks in this region.”

The Ben Franklin Bridge took three and a half years to build at a cost of $45.2 million.

The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency.  DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, and PATCO.  The DRPA also owns the RiverLink Ferry.
