DRPA Launches "KidZone" a Learning Tool for Kids

The Delaware River Port Authority is proud to announce the newest addition to its website, KidZone. KidZone is a special section of the Authority website just for kids and offers downloadable, skill-based activity sheets and games for parents to enjoy with their children. KidZone was developed by staff to work in conjunction with DRPA’s community outreach programs such as the READSTRONG reading and mentoring program. KidZone provides families with extra-curricular help at homework time. While focusing on Authority-related items such as transportation, maps, schedules and travel concepts, KidZone offers parents and teachers fun instructional tools to use to help children learn about social studies, math and science. KidZone activities feature familiar transportation venues such as the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, RiverLink Ferry and PATCO High Speed Line. KidZone makes learning fun and encourages students to look beyond their textbooks at ways to apply their learning. "In the past, we have received many requests from parents and teachers searching for instructional materials about bridges and trains," said John J. Matheussen CEO DRPA. "Now with the launch of KidZone, we can offer a fun way to help kids learn about how DRPA keeps the region moving." This is a growing site with new activities being added on a regular basis. Interactive pages are planned as well as emailed update notices to KidZone subscribers. To subscribe to KidZone, please sign up for the email subscription program at http://www.drpa.org/special/email_add.asp. Feedback is important to us. Visitors to the site are encouraged to share their comments through our email address at info@lists.drpa.org The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges. It also owns and operates the RiverLink Ferry System, Philadelphia Cruise Terminal at Pier 1
