About DRPA CEO & PATCO President John Matheussen

John J. Matheussen has been involved in a wide variety of regional issues as a New Jersey State Senator from District 4 from 1992 to 2003 and for the over nine years as Chief Executive Officer of the Delaware River Port Authority & President of PATCO. He graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in Communications in 1975, received his juris doctorate from the University of Dayton Law School in 1978 and was admitted to the bar in 1979.

At the helm of the Delaware River Port Authority and PATCO, John works with a dedicated staff and the Board to ensure the Authority’s assets are safe, secure and serviceable for generations to come. With over 100 million vehicles crossing the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, over 10 million passengers on PATCO, and thousands riding the RiverLink Ferry, the safe and efficient movement of people is the key organizational mission of the Authority along with the provision of outstanding customer service.

Some of his Board service includes being Co-Founder and Member of the Board of the Home Port Alliance for the USS New Jersey, a member of the Executive Committee of the Boards of the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia, the Boy Scouts of America South Jersey Advancement Committee, the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Philadelphia Sports Congress. He is also a member of the Board of the Southern NJ Development Council, Chamber of Commerce of Southern NJ, the State of New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness Bridges, Tunnels and Roadways Sector Working Group.
