Owned by the Delaware River Port Authority, construction began for the Commodore Barry Bridge April 14, 1969. Opened to traffic February 1, 1974. River/waterway crossing: Delaware River. Location: Bridgeport NJ/Chester PA. Width (out to out): 76 feet-10 inches. Travel width (curb to curb): 60 feet. Number of lanes: 5. The bridge does not have railroad/transit tracks. Length of the bridge (abutment to abutment): 13,912 feet. Navigable channel width: 800 feet. Navigable channel depth: 40 feet.  Structural steel weight: 49,000 tons.

Foundation type: piles (main piers), and piles (approach piers). Type of connection: weld (shop) and bolt (field). Roadway surface: concrete. Type of paint: urethane alkyd.
