Owned by the Delaware River Port Authority, construction began for the Betsy Ross Bridge June 12, 1969. Opened to traffic April 30, 1976. River/waterway crossing: Delaware River. Location: Pennsauken NJ/Philadelphia PA. Width (out to out): 105 feet-4 inches. Travel width (curb to curb): 90 feet. Number of lanes: 8. The bridge does not have railroad/transit tracks. Length (abutment to abutment): 8,485 feet. Navigable channel width: 400 feet. Navigable channel depth: 40 feet. 

Foundation type: piles (main piers), and piles (approach piers). Type of connection: weld (shop) and bolt (field). Roadway surface: asphalt. Type of paint: urethane alkyd. Structural steel weight: 29,326 tons.
