Walt Whitman Bridge

Scheduled Lane Closures:

Always obey speed restrictions when driving through work zones. Please note that there may be times when an unexpected or unscheduled closure occurs.

Mon 8/30 thru Fri 9/3 between 9am and 2pm each day the right hand westbound lane will be closed for wall and sign repairs.


Mon 8/30 thru Thu 9/2 between 9pm and 5am each day lanes on the ramp connecting the northbound freeway with the westbound bridge as well as the ramp connecting the eastbound bridge with the southbound freeway will be closed for strip seal replacement.

From Wednesday, September 8 thru Friday, September 10 between 7:30 am and 3 pm each day the right hand eastbound lane will be closed for lighting repairs.

From Tuesday, September, 7 thru Thursday, September 9 between 9 pm and 5 am each day the lanes connecting the walt Whitman bridge and the north south freeway will be closed in both directions.

Benjamin Franklin Bridge

The south walkway is open. Walkway hours are 6 a.m. until 9 p.m., daily for the summer. On October 1, the walkway will resume its Fall/Winter schedule of 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.   Walkway openings are weather permitting.

For up to the minute information regarding the status of the walkway, we recommend that you contact 856/968-2255 Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Before and after regular hours and on weekends, please contact Police Radio directly at 856/968-3301 or 215/218-3750 ext 3301.   

Scheduled Lane Closures Due To Maintenance Work:

Please note that due to operational needs and changes, which include the weather, the announced lane closures may not take place every day. All times are approximate. Maintenance crews are working on both sides of the bridge, and operations may change from time to time.

Wednesday September 8 & Thursday, September 9 between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm each day the two right westbound lanes will be closed for repairs.

Beginning Friday September 10 at 8 pm and continuing thru Monday September 13 at 5 am and the two right eastbound lanes will be closed for asphalt repairs.

From Mon 8/30 thru Thu 9/2 the Right Hand Westbound and Right Hand Eastbound lanes will be closed for repairs. The Westbound Lane will reopen Friday, 9/3 at 130pm.

The Eastbound Lane will reopen Friday, 9/3 at 2pm.

From Tuesday, September 7 at 9 a.m. until Tuesday, September 14 at 2:30 p.m., the right lane westbound on the bridge will be closed.

From Tuesday, September 7 at 9:30 a.m. until Tuesday, September 14 at 3 p.m., the far right lane eastbound on the bridge will be closed.

Tuesday, September 7, from 10 a.m. until Wednesday, September 8 at 3 p.m., the right lane and shoulder on the ramp from Rt. 90 eastbound to Rt. 130 northbound will be closed.
