Advertisement for Bids -Contact NO. CB-18-2010 - Commodore Barry Bridge Structural Repairs

Sealed Bids for Contract No. CB-18-2010, Commodore Barry Bridge Structural Repairs will be received during normal business hours at the office of the Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer, Delaware River Port Authority, One Port Center, Seventh Floor, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey 08101, until 2:30 p.m., local time, October 12, 2010 and immediately taken to the Engineering Conference Room and publicly opened and read.

The work to be completed under this Contract includes repairs to the Commodore Barry Bridge and also to one approach structure. The approach structure is the US 322 over US 130 bridge. The types of repairs include but are not limited to: bearing replacement in girder spans, stringer bearing replacement in deck truss and through truss spans, below deck transverse walkway demolition and replacement in the girder spans, below deck longitudinal walkway railing modifications in the truss spans, gusset plate edge stiffening, concrete spall repairs, concrete crack repairs, concrete pedestal replacement, bridge seat cleaning and sealing, application of deck corrosion inhibitor and crack sealing, drainage repairs, and structural steel repairs. Maintenance and protection of traffic and coordination with other projects is also included as part of the project.

Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained by prospective bidders at the office of the Authority, Division of Engineering, One Port Center, Seventh Floor, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey 08101, beginning August 23, 2010, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. A deposit of $ 200.00 by check or money order, made payable to the Delaware River Port Authority, will be required for each set of Contract Documents. Deposits will be refunded to anyone submitting a bid. Deposits will not, under any circumstances, be refunded to individuals or companies not submitting bids to the Delaware River Port Authority. Contract Documents cannot be ordered nor delivered by mail.

Prospective bidders should understand that the participation of certified MBEs and WBEs is a matter of great interest in the evaluation of all proposals. To that end, the DRPA has established MBE and WBE goals for this project. MBE and WBE team members must be named, and commitment levels must be noted at the time the bid is submitted.

A non-mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting will be held starting at 10:00 a.m., local time on August 31, 2010 in the 11th Floor Conference Room of One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, NJ 08101. A site visit is scheduled for September 1, 2010. Times for the site visits will be provided at the Pre-Bid Conference. All bidders shall be expected to completely and thoroughly examine all Contract Documents to become fully aware of the project scope and requirements prior to submitting a bid.

The Authority will consider only those bids received from parties who have obtained Contract Documents directly from the Authority. Contract Documents are not transferable to other parties for bidding purposes. Bids received from firms whose names are not recorded by the Authority as having secured documents for this Contract will be rejected.
