Contract No. BR-09-2006 - Betsy Ross Bridge Salt Storage Building

Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting: 10:00 a.m., local time on January 13, 2009 in the Engineering Conference Room located on the 7th Floor of One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey

Bids Due No Later Than 10:30 AM Local Time On January 27, 2009

Sealed proposals for Contract No. BR-09-2006, Betsy Ross Bridge Salt Storage Building, will be received during normal business hours, at the office of the Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer in the Headquarters Building of the Delaware River Port Authority, One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey, until 10:30 a.m. local time, January 27, 2009 and immediately taken to the Engineering Conference Room and publicly opened and read.

Contractor will be required to supply all material and labor to construct a Salt Storage Building meeting the detailed specifications. The scope of the work consists of a concrete foundation, pre-manufactured wood trusses installed on concrete perimeter walls, interior and exterior electrical work and associated site work. The Salt Storage Building will be constructed on the New Jersey side of the Betsy Ross Bridge. Bidders will be required to submit a reference list indicating construction experience on similar work.  The building will be approximately 65’ by 41’.

The Delaware River Port Authority is firmly committed to providing equal employment and business opportunities for all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or non-job related disability.  In that regard, the Delaware River Port Authority purchase agreement issued, contract or subcontract entered into pursuant to this project, qualified and certified minority business enterprises (MBEs) and women business enterprises (WBEs) will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids and will not be discriminated against on grounds or race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or non-job disability in consideration for an award.  Prospective bidders should understand that the participation of qualified and certified MBEs and WBEs is a matter of great interest in the evaluation of all bids. To that end, the DRPA has established MBE and WBE goals for this project.  MBE and WBE team members must be named, and commitment levels must be noted at the time the bid is submitted.

A complete description of the work and full information for Contract Bidders is given in the Contract Documents.  Copies of the Contract documents may be obtained by prospective bidders at the Delaware River Port Authority’s Engineering Office located on the 7th floor of One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey 08101-1949, on and after December 30, 2008.

A deposit of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or by check, made payable to the Delaware River Port Authority, will be required for each set of Contract Documents.  Deposits will be refunded to anyone submitting a bid (limit of $200.00 for four sets).  Deposits will not, under any circumstances, be refunded to individuals or companies not submitting bids to the Delaware River Port Authority.  Contract documents cannot be ordered for delivery by mail.

A mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting will be held starting at 10:00 a.m., local time on January 13, 2009 in the Engineering Conference Room located on the 7th Floor of One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey.   Bids will only be accepted from firms who attend the Pre-Bid Meeting.  All Bidders shall be expected to completely and thoroughly examine all Contract Documents to become fully aware of the project scope and requirements prior to submitting a bid.

The Authority will consider only those bids received from parties who have obtained Contract Documents directly from the Authority.  Contract Documents are not transferable to other parties for bidding purposes.  Bids received from firms whose names are not recorded by the Authority as having secured documents for this Contract will be rejected.
