RFQ - Benjamin Franklin Bridge Main Cable Inspection

The Delaware River Port Authority (Authority) hereby invites interested professional consulting engineering firms to submit a Statement of Qualifications for conducting an investigation of the internal condition of selected main suspension cable sections. The Scope of Services the Authority shall include providing inspection platforms, unwrapping of five(5) 20 foot nominal sections on the north and south cables, performing an internal inspection by wedging the parallel wires, lab testing as needed, reoiling, and recompacting the cable sections. Limited splice repairs may be required. The consultant will formalize the findings in a report. The firm shall exhibit professional staff knowledgeable in suspension bridge systems plus other applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The consulting engineering firm will be expected to provide fully developed methodologies for accomplishing all the above mentioned work. Six (6) copies of the written Statement of Qualifications and U.S. Government Forms SF330 must be received by the Authority no later than 4:00 p.m. on June 19, 2007. The Statement of Qualifications should be addressed to Mr. William C. Brooks, P.E., Acting Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer, Delaware River Port Authority, One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, P.O. Box 1949, Camden, New Jersey 08101. The mailing envelope containing the Statement of Qualifications shall be labeled "BENJAMIN FRANKLIN BRIDGE MAIN CABLE INSPECTION". The Statement of Qualifications shall describe, in five (5) pages or less, the qualifications of the firm and the key personnel in the inspection of suspension bridge main cables and shall briefly describe similar consultation projects successfully completed in the last five years by the firm and the key personnel. The Statement of Qualifications will be used by the Authority to establish a short list of consultants to receive a Request for Proposal and to engage a consultant for this project. However, MBE and WBE team members must be named, and commitment levels must be noted at the time the bid or proposal is submitted.
