Walt Whitman Bridge
What To Expect During Phase III of Redecking Project:
A multi-month bridge deck renovation project is underway. Motorists should consider using the Commodore Barry Bridge, the Ben Franklin Bridge or PATCO during peak traffic hours.
During the morning (weekday) rush hour, four lanes will be open westbound, and two will be open eastbound. During the evening (weekday) rush hour, three lanes will be open in each direction.
Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11
- Three lanes will be open westbound and two lanes will be open eastbound from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 12
- After 7 a.m., three lanes will be open westbound and two lanes will be open eastbound.
Sunday, May 13
- After 9 a.m., three lanes will be open westbound and three lanes eastbound.
Monday, May 14 through Friday, May 18
- Two lanes will be open westbound and two lanes will be open eastbound from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. One exception: On Tuesday, May 15, a third westbound lane will be open during the day to handle traffic headed for a scheduled afternoon Phillies game.
Saturday, May 19
- After 7 a.m., three lanes will be open westbound and two lanes will be open eastbound. Lane Six eastbound will be closed for 24 hours to accommodate a concrete pour. Eastbound traffic will progress through two separate lanes bounded by concrete barriers. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to consider using alternate Delaware River crossings, such as the Commodore Barry or Ben Franklin bridges.
Sunday, May 20
- After 9 a.m., three lanes will be open westbound and three lanes will be open eastbound.
Commodore Barry Bridge
Monday May 7 beginning at 9am until 3pm on Friday May 11
- Lane 1 westbound into PA will be closed
Thursday May 10
- Sometime between 3pm and 5pm, the bridge will be closed for approximately 20 minutes to accommodate the Police Unity Bike Tour
Friday May 11
- Beginning at 2 pm until 5 pm, lane 5 eastbound will be closed.
- Beginning at 6 pm until 6 pm on Saturday May 12, lanes 4 & 5 eastbound and 9th Street Ramp will be closed.
Monday May 14 beginning at 9am until 3pm on Friday May 18
- Lane 1 westbound into PA will be closed
Benjamin Franklin Bridge
Monday May 7 thru Friday May 11
- Beginning at 8pm until 4:30am the next day, lanes 6 & 7 eastbound into NJ will be closed.
Monday May 14 & Tuesday May 15
- Beginning at 9:30am until 2:30pm, lanes 1 & 2, westbound into Philadelphia, will be closed
Monday May 14 thru Friday May 18
- Beginning at 8pm until 4:30am the following day, lanes 6 & 7, eastbound into NJ, will be closed
Sunday May 20
- Beginning at 6am until 4:30pm, lane 7, eastbound into NJ, will be closed.
The north walkway is currently open to pedestrians and bicyclists. The south walkway is closed until further notice.
Walkway hours are currently 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily for the Spring/Summer seasons. The walkway is open weather permitting. On October 1, walkway hours will revert to the Fall/Winter schedule of 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Betsy Ross Bridge
May 7 beginning at 5:30am until 3pm on Friday May 11
- Lane 1 westbound to PA will be closed
Monday May 14 beginning at 5:30am until 3pm on Friday May 11
- Lane 6 eastbound in NJ will be closed
Work: Please note that due to operational needs and changes, which include the weather, the announced lane closures may not take place every day. All times are approximate. Maintenance crews are working on both sides of the bridge, and operations may change from time to time.
Always obey speed restrictions when driving through work zones.
Please note that there may be times when an unexpected or unscheduled closure occurs.
